Unitree Robotics to Debut on Shanghai Stock Exchange
Chinese robotics firm Unitree Robotics is set to list on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's STAR Market on Wednesday. The company, the world's largest maker of humanoid robots, will be closely watched during its trading debut.

Chinese robotics firm Unitree Robotics is preparing for its public debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's STAR Market on Wednesday. The company, recognized as the world's largest manufacturer of humanoid robots, will attract significant attention during its initial trading days.
Unitree is known for its advanced robotic creations, including those capable of dancing and performing martial arts, as well as its four-legged models. These robots have made appearances at major events such as the 2022 Winter Olympics and the 2023 Super Bowl. Founded in 2016, Unitree is based in Hangzhou, China.
The company's IPO occurs amidst heightened geopolitical tensions, with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission recently updating its Covered List to ban foreign-made humanoid robots, citing national security concerns. While the ban broadly affects many devices, robots similar to those produced by Unitree are widely considered the likely target.
Industry observers view the humanoid robotics sector as a key battleground in the broader U.S.-China competition for technological and economic supremacy in artificial intelligence. Unitree successfully raised over $900 million in its pre-IPO offering last week, which was reportedly oversubscribed by more than 8,000 times, setting a record for the STAR Market.
