University of East Anglia Opens New Anatomy Suite for Healthcare Training

The University of East Anglia (UEA) has officially opened a new anatomy suite located in the Edith Cavell Building on the Norwich Research Park. This facility is designed to support and enhance training across healthcare disciplines, including medicine, dentistry, and clinical sciences.

The suite incorporates modern educational technology alongside traditional anatomy-based learning. It features 17 dissection tables, advanced audiovisual systems, and integrated iPads at each workstation. Notably, the new space allows for up to 120 medical students to be taught concurrently in one session, a significant increase in teaching capacity.

UEA states that the investment underscores its commitment to hands-on anatomy education, utilizing real human anatomy complemented by technology. The facility has been designed for flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of healthcare education. It has already welcomed its first users, with full student intake beginning in September 2026.

Beyond undergraduate teaching, the suite will support postgraduate learning, surgical skills development, and continuing professional development for healthcare professionals. UEA also plans to expand surgical skills courses and introduce a robotic surgery teaching suite.
