University of Ottawa Renews D2L Brightspace Contract for 12 Years

The University of Ottawa and D2L, a provider of learning solutions, have entered into a 12-year renewal agreement for the use of the D2L Brightspace learning platform. This contract deepens the strategic relationship between the university and the technology company.

The agreement aims to support the university's aspirations to create more unified, accessible, and human-centered learning experiences. D2L's platform has been in use at the University of Ottawa for nearly a decade and has proven to support the university's learning transformation strategy.

According to leadership, the 12-year contract provides stability and assurance, allowing both faculty and students to rely on the platform's longevity without constant concern about migrating content to new systems. The university, which is the world's largest bilingual English-French university, utilizes the platform to foster pedagogical innovation in its teaching.

With the aid of D2L Brightspace, the university aims to meet the needs and expectations of future students. Approximately 98% of students and 85% of faculty utilize the platform. Over 4,000 online and hybrid courses are delivered through the platform each term.
