University of Phoenix Leaders Present AI and Learning Insights at Blackboard Conference

University of Phoenix leaders presented insights on artificial intelligence, accessibility, and online learning practices at the Building Blackboard Together 2026 conference, held in Dallas from July 13-15. The event convened educators and industry experts to discuss the future of teaching and learning.

Representing the university were Dr. Marc Booker, vice provost of strategy, Kelly Hermann, vice president of Accessibility and Student Affairs, and Erin Amsden, group product manager. Their presentations and panel discussions covered responsible AI adoption, accessibility leadership, student engagement, and the role of learning technologies in supporting institutional goals.

The University also received the Blackboard Catalyst Award for Ethical AI Leadership, recognizing its efforts in promoting responsible, transparent, and equitable AI practices. This award highlights the university's commitment to ensuring fair outcomes for both students and educators.

The sessions explored the expanding role of learning management systems (LMS) in student experience, the application of AI in student support, and best practices for online education. Discussions also addressed the opportunities and challenges related to agent AI concerning academic integrity and assessment.
