University of Phoenix names 11 faculty members as 2026 Faculty of the Year
University of Phoenix has named 11 faculty members as recipients of its 2026 Faculty of the Year awards, recognizing their contributions to teaching, student support, and academic leadership.
Phoenix, Arizona – University of Phoenix announced its 2026 Faculty of the Year award recipients, recognizing 11 faculty members for their dedication to student success, teaching excellence, and contributions to the learning experience during the university's 50th anniversary year.
The recognized faculty members represent various colleges within the university and were honored at a ceremony on September 19 in Phoenix. These annual awards acknowledge faculty whose expertise, mentorship, and commitment assist learners in achieving their academic and professional goals.
"As we celebrate this milestone year, it is especially meaningful to recognize faculty who exemplify the impact dedicated educators can have on students' lives," said Dr. John Woods, provost and chief academic officer at University of Phoenix. He noted that faculty guidance, professional expertise, and care for students foster meaningful learning experiences.
University of Phoenix faculty members, who often bring practical experience, average 29 years of professional experience and 16 years of university teaching experience. This blend of industry knowledge and teaching experience helps students connect academic concepts with workplace applications, aligning with the university's mission to serve working adult learners.
Among this year's honorees were Gina Coffaro from the College of Education, Karen Diggs from the College of Business & Information Technology, and Brett Novick from the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences, who described himself as "honored and humbled" by the recognition and highlighted the inspiring role of students in his teaching.
