UPM to build first label material production plant in India
UPM plans to open a label material manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India, by early 2028 to expand its regional supply chain capabilities.
UPM Adhesive Materials has announced plans to establish its first manufacturing facility in India. Located in the state of Gujarat, the plant will focus on the production of self-adhesive label materials utilizing an acrylic-based coating line.
This investment follows a series of expansion steps taken by the company within the region. In March 2026, UPM opened a label material slitting and distribution terminal near New Delhi. The new factory will enhance the company's ability to serve the local Indian market, where demand for label and packaging solutions continues to rise.
The facility is scheduled to be operational by early 2028. This move signifies UPM’s commitment to strengthening its footprint in the growing Indian economy.
