UPSHOT League to Hold Inaugural Championship Weekend in Jacksonville
The UPSHOT League will play its historic first championship game on August 29, preceded by a series of events celebrating the league's inaugural season and women's basketball.
The UPSHOT League announced its inaugural Championship Game will take place on Saturday, August 29, in Jacksonville, Florida. The game will be held at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, where one team will become the league's first champion.
The Championship Weekend will include several supporting events. A coaches clinic is scheduled for Friday, August 28. On Saturday, August 29, a youth basketball clinic will feature UPSHOT players and coaches, alongside a ticketed discussion event on the growth of women's basketball with league legends.
Leading up to the championship game, Saturday, August 29, will also feature the UPSHOT Fan Fest starting at 5:00 p.m. around the arena. Additionally, the "UPSHOT LEAGUE Business Women's Showcase" will highlight female entrepreneurs.
The league's four founding teams – the Jacksonville Waves, Savannah Steel, Greensboro Groove, and Charlotte Crown – are competing for the championship. Over 70% of UPSHOT players have WNBA experience or direct WNBA connections, highlighting the league's talent level and player opportunities.
