Urban Company Reports Q1 Net Loss of ₹92 Crore; Revenue Up 44%

Home services company Urban Company reported a consolidated net loss of ₹92.1 crore for the first quarter of FY27, a shift from a profit of ₹6.9 crore in the same period last year. The company's operating revenue, however, grew significantly by 43.9% to ₹528.3 crore from ₹367.3 crore in Q1 FY26.

Total expenses for the quarter surged 66.5% year-on-year to ₹639.9 crore. This increase is attributed to aggressive investments in scaling up its instant home services vertical, InstaHelp. Despite rapid expansion, Urban Company stated that InstaHelp saw an improvement in unit economics.

InstaHelp's revenue grew by 26% quarter-on-quarter to ₹11 crore. However, its adjusted EBITDA loss widened to ₹132 crore, compared to a loss of ₹13 crore in the previous March quarter. The company reiterated that InstaHelp losses are expected to remain elevated due to ongoing investments aimed at securing its market leadership position.
