Urban Company Stock Drops as Q2 Loss Widens, Fundraise Approved
Urban Company's stock fell over 9.5% after the home services firm reported a wider net loss for its second quarter and its board approved plans to raise up to ₹2,500 Cr (approx. $300 million) in capital.

Shares of home services provider Urban Company experienced a significant drop, falling over 9.5% on the BSE during Friday's trading session. The decline followed the company's second-quarter financial results, which revealed a widening net loss, and the board's approval for a capital raise of up to ₹2,500 Cr.
The company reported a consolidated net loss of ₹182.5 Cr for Q2 FY27, a substantial increase from ₹59.3 Cr in the same period last year. While operating revenue grew by 41% to ₹537.3 Cr, total expenses surged by 61.5% to ₹745.7 Cr. This rise in expenditure was largely attributed to investments in its new quick household help service, InstaHelp.
Urban Company's board has greenlit a proposal to raise up to ₹2,500 Cr through equity shares and/or convertible securities. The company stated these funds will be used to strengthen InstaHelp's market position, support investments across its other business segments, and finance potential acquisitions.
Despite the increased loss, the company is exploring expansion into the residential air conditioner market under its 'Native' brand. Management indicated that profitability targets could be met without additional capital, though InstaHelp's losses affect financial flexibility. Analysts, however, have maintained a positive outlook, citing growth opportunities in new cities and international markets.
