Uriage Presents New Skin Barrier and Microbiome Research at EADV Congress

Laboratoires Dermatologiques d'Uriage presented its latest research findings at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress 2026 in Vienna, highlighting advances in the skin's triple barrier, microbiome, and regeneration.

The company reported that clinical and microbiological studies demonstrated a correlation between skin barrier repair and microbiome improvement. New XEMOSE C8+® products feature a new generation of biomimetic ceramides designed to support skin barrier repair in atopic dermatitis.

Additionally, BARIEDERM-CICA+® Repairing Cream was presented, which clinically supports controlled skin regeneration and shows efficacy in reducing the appearance of marks from day 7. For photoprotection, ex vivo research on the BARIESUN® range suggested that skin-friendly, non-occlusive polymers can reduce the penetration of UV filters into the skin.

Dr. Marius Anton Ionescu, MD, PhD, Scientific Communication and Medical Director at Laboratoires Dermatologiques d'Uriage, emphasized that a deeper understanding of the skin's immune mechanisms is central to modern dermatology. The company shared clinically proven results aimed at supporting dermatologists' prescription choices for common skin conditions.

The research covered various skin concerns, including acne and rosacea, where microbiome imbalance is a significant factor. In patients with atopic dermatitis, XEMOSE C8+® Balm was shown to reduce itching and redness while increasing the diversity of the skin's microbiome. Uriage Repairing Thermal Water (URTW), rich in minerals and trace elements, serves as the scientific foundation for many of the company's formulations.
