US Foods drivers in New York authorize strike action
More than 260 members of Teamsters Local 282 have voted unanimously to authorize a strike against US Foods over contract disputes.

Drivers represented by Teamsters Local 282 in New York have voted to authorize a strike against food service distributor US Foods. The move follows ongoing contract negotiations concerning wages, benefits, and workplace safety standards.
Should the labor dispute remain unresolved, the potential walkout could disrupt supply chain operations across the New York tri-state area, affecting deliveries to restaurants, schools, and hospitals. Local 282 President Tom Gesualdi stated that workers are seeking an agreement that reflects the company's financial standing and the drivers' contributions to operations.
This standoff is part of a broader labor conflict for US Foods, with similar contract negotiations ongoing at other local Teamsters chapters. The national union has signaled that nationwide actions could be considered if the company does not reach agreements with its workforce, which comprises over 5,000 employees represented by the Teamsters.
US Foods reported $39.4 billion in net sales for 2025 and currently holds a market capitalization of over $19 billion. The company has not yet released a public statement regarding the potential impact of a work stoppage.
