Gebbia stated that the initiative aims to address the challenges faced by the approximately 40 million individuals who interact with government websites daily. The launch event, held in Washington, D.C., was attended by President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other administration officials and industry leaders.
During the event, President Trump remarked that the new website represents a "restoration of America's founding promise" and a "reinvention of your government for the 21st century and beyond." Discussions also focused on AI's broader applications across sectors like energy, health, space, and agriculture.
The underlying AI technologies are provided by Google and xAI, a company founded by Elon Musk, though neither entity had immediately responded to requests for comment. America.gov is intended to serve as a centralized hub for citizens seeking government information and services.
