Average memory prices in the United States have seen a significant increase of 500% over the past 12 months, with some product prices reaching up to ten times their historical lows, according to a report by tech media outlet Tom's Hardware. This surge impacts various types of memory modules.

A 128GB DDR5 memory kit, for example, is now priced at $3,399. This represents a substantial 933.13% increase from its previous lowest price point of $329.

The report details price changes for multiple DDR5 memory configurations. A 2x16GB DDR5-5200 memory kit has seen its average price rise from $100 to $480, a 380% increase. Similarly, larger kits, such as 2x32GB DDR5-5600, have experienced comparable price hikes.

Prices for older DDR4 memory have also risen. The report attributes this to increased demand from users upgrading older platforms like AMD's AM4 or Intel's LGA1700 sockets. The year-over-year increase for various DDR4 kits ranges from 120% to 177%.
