U.S. News & World Report Names Inaugural Home Insurance Award Winners
U.S. News & World Report has recognized five homeowners insurance companies for customer satisfaction, claims handling, and specialized consumer needs in its first-ever Home Insurance Awards. The awards aim to guide homeowners in selecting suitable coverage.

U.S. News & World Report announced on Monday the winners of its inaugural 2026-2027 Home Insurance Awards, recognizing five companies for excellence in customer satisfaction, claims handling, and meeting specific consumer needs. These accolades are intended to assist property owners in navigating the U.S. home insurance market, which is influenced by economic conditions, climate risks, and rising construction costs.
The awards come at a critical time for homeowners facing evolving economic landscapes and environmental challenges. Catriona Kendall, an insurance reporter at U.S. News, stated, "When choosing the right home insurance company to trust with their largest asset, homeowners should consider not only the cost of a policy but also the reliability of that insurer when it matters most."
Amica was honored as Best Overall. State Farm received the award for Best for Comprehensive Coverage, while Allstate was recognized as Best for Flood Coverage, addressing severe weather risks. Cincinnati Insurance was acknowledged for having the fewest complaints, and USAA was named Best for the Military Community for its specialized policies.
U.S. News determined the winners through an analysis of data from 24 homeowners insurance companies, surveys of 1,022 policyholders, and 894 NAIC data points. The methodology evaluated companies across customer satisfaction, company and service features, and cost, aiming to provide consumers with clear insights for selecting insurance providers.
