US$22 Million Education Program Launched for Crisis-Affected Children in Sudan

Education Cannot Wait (ECW) has announced a new three-year investment totaling US$22 million aimed at supporting nearly 200,000 crisis-affected children and adolescents in Sudan. The program seeks to re-establish safe and inclusive learning opportunities for young people impacted by the ongoing crisis.

This significant funding initiative is designed to help stabilize and rebuild Sudan's education system, which has faced severe disruption due to years of conflict and humanitarian emergencies. The goal is to ensure continuity of education and support the overall recovery process for the nation's youth.

The launch of this program is part of ECW's broader global "Hope Starts Here" campaign. ECW, a United Nations fund, focuses on providing education to children in crisis and conflict zones worldwide. Sudan has been grappling with recurrent conflicts and instability, significantly hindering access to education for its population.

Funds are expected to be allocated towards rebuilding school infrastructure, training teachers, and providing necessary learning materials. A key objective is also to ensure that schools serve as safe havens for children and to promote equitable access to education, particularly for girls.
