USD Coin (USDC) is a digital currency designed to maintain a stable value pegged to the U.S. dollar. It is issued by regulated affiliates of Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL).

USDC is fully backed by highly liquid cash and cash-equivalent assets, redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars. This stability makes it a key tool for digital payments, decentralized finance (DeFi), trading, and facilitating fiat-to-crypto on-ramps and off-ramps.

As of late June 2025, USDC is natively supported on over 20 major blockchain networks, with ongoing expansion. Companies such as Augustus leverage USDC to enable fast, cost-effective cross-border payments and treasury management for global business operations.

Circle regularly publishes third-party assurance reports confirming that the value of USDC reserve assets is sufficient to back all circulating USDC. In the U.S., Circle holds various licenses, including money transmitter licenses (MTLs) in most states and a BitLicense in New York. The company also complies with the EU's MiCA regulation.

Use cases for USDC span global remittances, acting as a stable pair in crypto trading, powering Web3 applications like gaming and NFT marketplaces, facilitating business treasury functions, and enabling smart contracts. It aims to foster financial inclusion by providing a stable store of value and access to global finance.
