Used EV Buying Guide: The $30,000 Edition
The used electric vehicle market faces rising prices despite increased supply. This guide examines models in the $25,000 to $30,000 price range.

The used electric vehicle market is experiencing a notable shift. While the supply of used EVs is growing due to an increasing number of ex-lease vehicles entering the market, prices have also been on the rise. According to Cox Automotive analysts, used EV values have appreciated by just over 5 percent since February, influenced in part by geopolitical events. Despite this price increase, the sales volume for used EVs has remained strong, showing a 25 percent year-over-year increase by May.
Furthermore, used EVs spend considerably less time on dealer lots compared to new ones. Cox Automotive data indicates a 38-day supply of used EVs in June, contrasting sharply with the 81-day supply for new EVs. Analysts at Recurrent highlight that much of the demand is concentrated at the lower end of the price spectrum. Previous installments of this guide have covered EVs under $25,000, with potential eligibility for rebates in some regions.
This edition focuses on used EVs priced between $25,000 and $30,000. Autotrader's search data reveals over 9,000 used EVs available within this price bracket. The available inventory can be broadly categorized into three tiers: models with abundant selection, those with a few hundred listings nationwide, and rarer options with only a handful available.
