UT Health San Antonio names NIH expert director of stem cell transplant program
UT Health San Antonio has appointed Georg Aue, MD, PhD, MBA, a nationally recognized expert in blood cancer and cellular therapy, as director of its new program for stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. Aue joins from the National Institutes of Health.
San Antonio, TX – UT Health San Antonio, the academic health center and health system of The University of Texas at San Antonio, has appointed Georg Aue, MD, PhD, MBA, to lead its new program for stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. Aue, an expert in blood cancers and cellular therapies, begins his role immediately.
Aue comes to UT Health San Antonio from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he held leadership positions in cancer research. His background includes significant contributions to the development of T-cell therapies and other cell-based treatments for cancer.
The new program aims to advance patient care and research for individuals with complex blood disorders, including leukemia and lymphoma. UT Health San Antonio stated the initiative will focus on providing patients access to cutting-edge treatments and improving outcomes.
