Summa Defence Plc announced that its subsidiary, Uudekaupungin Työvene Oy, has been awarded a public tender for the design and construction of SWATH vessels. The tender was issued by DAB Vloot (Maritime and Coastal services) on behalf of the Flemish Region for operations in the North Sea.
The contract consists of a fixed part for the first SWATH vessel and conditional parts for three additional vessels. The first vessel is scheduled to be built at Uudekaupungin Työvene Oy's shipyard in Uusikaupunki, Finland. The financial details of the award have not been disclosed.
SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) vessels are known for their stability in challenging sea conditions, making them suitable for operations in areas like the North Sea. The intended use of these vessels is for maritime and coastal services.
