UWorld Integrates Automated Proctoring Into Nursing Education Platform

UWorld has integrated automated, AI-assisted remote proctoring into its Nursing Learning Platform through a partnership with Respondus Monitor. This feature is designed to help nursing programs uphold academic integrity while reducing faculty workload by eliminating the need for real-time exam supervision and advance proctoring appointments.

The integration addresses a growing challenge in nursing education: maintaining rigorous assessment standards as online and hybrid learning models become more common, compounded by persistent faculty shortages. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing reported a 7.2% national vacancy rate for full-time nursing faculty in the 2025–26 academic year.

Respondus Monitor functions alongside Respondus LockDown Browser to prevent students from accessing unauthorized websites and applications during assessments. The AI-assisted technology records exam sessions and flags potential irregularities for faculty review, removing the need for live monitoring. The integration also supports identity verification, testing environment checks, and flexible scheduling.

UWorld states that nursing programs can utilize an existing institutional Respondus Monitor license or offer students unlimited proctoring within a single UWorld course. Once enabled, the technology operates directly within UWorld's Learning Platform, allowing educators to administer secure remote assessments without adding a separate testing system.
