Valmet and Metsä Fibre have reached a settlement to conclude arbitration proceedings regarding the Kemi bioproduct mill project.
Engineering company Valmet has reached a settlement with Metsä Fibre to end arbitration proceedings initiated in October 2024. The dispute concerned delivery agreements related to the construction of the Kemi bioproduct mill in Finland.
The terms of the settlement, including any financial impact, remain confidential. Valmet confirmed that the agreement effectively terminates the legal dispute, which had centered on performance claims related to the project delivery.
The Kemi bioproduct mill, which began production in September 2023, was a major capital investment for the Finnish forestry sector. Valmet served as a primary technology supplier for the facility. By resolving this matter, both parties move to conclude the legal conflict and continue their professional working relationship.
