Valmet Automotive and Patria Expand Armored Vehicle Production

Valmet Automotive and Patria have signed a multi-year agreement to significantly expand their cooperation in the production of armored vehicles at Valmet Automotive's facility in Uusikaupunki, Finland. The agreement increases annual production capacity to hundreds of vehicles.

This expands on the initial cooperation agreement from December 2025, which focused on technology transfer for Patria's armored 6x6 vehicle and the manufacturing of the first units.

Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria's Protected Mobility business area, highlighted the scalability benefits of the expanded partnership. "Technology transfer has been integral to Patria’s business model, and while we have increased our own production, we have been seeking additional capacity," Järvinen stated.

Pasi Rannus, CEO of Valmet Automotive, emphasized the company's role in the defense sector. "We will create significant additional capacity for Patria quickly and to a high standard, reaching full production by early 2027. This secures our position in the Finnish and European defense industry."

The collaboration leverages Valmet Automotive's decades of serial manufacturing expertise. The Patria and Valmet Automotive partnership, including its subcontractor network, generates approximately 240 jobs per 100 vehicles produced.
