Alex Ndubai, CEO of VALR Capital, detailed his company's market focus in a recent interview with CB Insights. VALR Capital positions itself as a credit risk infrastructure provider for institutional lenders across sub-Saharan Africa.
The firm serves banks, microfinance institutions, impact funds, and debt funds. Ndubai stated that the collective lending volume through these institutions, excluding South Africa, amounts to approximately $345 billion. VALR Capital monetizes a portion of this volume through fees, typically between 1% and 2% of the book value on its current contracts.
While SME portfolios represent the company's entry point, its platform is capable of monitoring any loan book. The interview, featured as part of CB Insights' research content, aimed to shed light on the company’s strategy and its contribution to the African financial sector's risk management capabilities.
