Valve Leaves Steam Machine Game Compatibility Data Open

Valve has broadened its Steam Deck Verified program to encompass the new Steam Machine hardware. This initiative provides ratings on game compatibility and playability specifically for the living room-focused device.

New classifications have begun appearing on the Steam store. The company has stated it is "still learning" about Steam Machine compatibility for a number of games. These titles are too demanding for the Steam Deck, which also impacts Steam Machine performance.

Compatibility assessment is straightforward for games already functioning on the Steam Deck. Similarly, games confirmed as incompatible with SteamOS will not work on the SteamOS-powered Steam Machine.

Challenges arise with games that load on SteamOS but are too demanding for the Steam Deck. For these titles, the Steam store displays an "Unsupported" mark, as their graphics settings cannot be configured to run smoothly on the Steam Deck or require manual adjustment.
