Valve Releases Steam Frame VR Headset Bundled With Half-Life: Alyx
Valve has launched its new Steam Frame VR headset, which includes the game Half-Life: Alyx. The hardware runs the game natively on an ARM architecture.
Valve has introduced its latest virtual reality headset, the Steam Frame, which will be bundled with the popular game Half-Life: Alyx. The device is designed to operate independently, eliminating the need for a separate PC.
Purchasers of the Steam Frame will receive a copy of Half-Life: Alyx. Valve has ported the entire game to ARM64, enabling it to run natively on the headset's Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 3 chip. This development removes the requirement for a VR-ready Windows desktop or laptop computer.
Previously, Half-Life: Alyx demanded a VR-ready PC with at least a mid-range graphics card. The new port significantly expands the game's accessibility by allowing it to run directly from the VR hardware.
Valve has not yet commented on whether new VR games will be developed for the Steam Frame platform. The new headset is priced at $1,059.
