Valve reports data breach at shipping partner may have exposed customer information
Valve has announced that a data breach at its European shipping partner, CEVA Logistics, may have exposed personal information of customers who ordered Steam hardware.
Gaming company Valve has disclosed that personal data belonging to European customers who ordered its Steam hardware may have been compromised. The company stated that its logistics partner, CEVA Logistics, experienced a data breach between July 29th and August 1st.
According to Valve, the compromised data could include customer names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. The breach occurred shortly after Valve began accepting reservations for its new Steam Machine and Steam Controller products.
CEVA Logistics stores delivery-related information for up to 90 days after orders are completed, suggesting that European customer data was likely exposed. Valve has notified affected users via email about the incident.
The company has not yet specified the exact number of customers impacted by the breach or confirmed any misuse of the exposed data. Valve advises customers to remain vigilant regarding any suspicious communications.
