Valve, the company behind the Steam platform, has deployed a new software update to the preview and beta channels for its Steam Deck handheld gaming device. This latest release focuses on enhancing device compatibility and resolving known bugs for users testing the bleeding-edge software.

The update includes a fix for an issue where the 'Changelog' in settings incorrectly displayed update events from different channels, such as showing beta channel updates while on the stable channel. Additionally, a scaling error within the main view mode on the desktop interface has been resolved.

A significant addition is the expanded controller support. The Steam Input system now recognizes PDP Afterglow Wave controllers for Nintendo Switch, supporting both wired and wireless models. Support has also been extended to Turtle Beach controllers for the Nintendo Switch.

Improvements have also been made to the Remote Play feature. Users can now set a frame rate limit of 59.94 FPS, and issues causing frame rate drops under automatic limiting have been reduced. A problem with the client's video decoder overloading when infinite bandwidth was enabled has also been corrected.

Finally, the Steam Controller firmware received a fix for an occasional double-triggering issue with the B button. These updates collectively aim to refine the user experience and broaden hardware compatibility for Steam Deck owners.
