Finnish pension insurance company Varma has invested approximately EUR 51 million more in Verda, a company specializing in AI cloud services and computing capacity. This latest funding round makes Varma a continued major shareholder in the Finnish growth company, which raised a total of EUR 163 million.
Verda's most recent funding round valued the company at over USD 1 billion, officially creating a new Finnish unicorn. The company provides AI developers with computing capacity and services for training and deploying AI models, addressing the growing demand driven by AI applications.
Varma has supported Verda through multiple investment stages since 2025. Juho Taskinen, Portfolio Manager at Varma, noted Verda's potential to "scale internationally and become a leading European provider of AI cloud services."
The additional investment solidifies Varma's role as a significant shareholder and supports Verda's international expansion. As a pension investor, Varma emphasizes its long-term commitment and capacity for substantial follow-on investments in promising growth companies.
