Vascular Medicine Conference Presents New Clinical Trial Data
The VIVA Foundation announced new clinical trial results in vascular medicine at the VIVA 2026 conference in Las Vegas. The findings focused on sirolimus-eluting balloons and angioplasty.

Las Vegas, Nevada – The VIVA Foundation announced new clinical trial results in vascular medicine on October 14, 2026, at the VIVA 2026 conference held at Bellagio Las Vegas. The organization is dedicated to advancing the field of vascular medicine and intervention through education and research.
For 24 years, VIVA (Vascular Interventional Advances) has been a benchmark for education and clinical excellence in peripheral vascular disease, bringing together the latest science, technology, and international expertise.
The conference featured key findings from the SELUTION4SFA trial, which compared a sirolimus-eluting balloon (SELUTION SLR™ DEB) against standard balloon angioplasty (PTA) for treating femoropopliteal artery lesions. The study enrolled 300 patients across the US, Europe, and Asia. Results showed the sirolimus-eluting balloon significantly met superiority for efficacy, achieving primary patency of 78.6% compared to 65.2% for PTA, and met non-inferiority for safety.
Additionally, an analysis from the SirPAD trial was presented, comparing sirolimus-coated balloons against standard uncoated balloons for femoropopliteal artery disease. At one-year follow-up, the sirolimus-coated balloons significantly reduced the need for target lesion revascularization (17.0% vs. 27.1%) and improved clinical outcomes.
The results from these trials suggest that sirolimus-eluting balloon angioplasty techniques may improve treatment outcomes and reduce repeat interventions in patients with peripheral artery disease.
