Vendee Labs Launches Local AI Shopping Agent for Shoppers

Vendee Labs has launched the VendeeX Personal Shopping Agent, an application designed to act exclusively as a shopper's ally in online commerce. A key feature of the application is its local operation: the AI model and all user data, such as personal preferences and purchase history, remain entirely on the user's own computer.

This "buyer-sovereign" approach aims to address growing concerns about the use of AI in e-commerce. According to the company, many current shopping assistants are owned and operated by sales platforms and may favor products that provide them with commission. VendeeX is designed without advertising or paid placements, and its code prevents merchants from influencing search results.

The VendeeX agent handles product searches, but all purchase transactions are completed directly within the merchant's own checkout system. Vendee Labs does not process payments or store payment information, which reduces security risks. The application adheres to European data protection standards, such as GDPR, and aims to protect user data from potential leaks or sales.

"People are being asked to let AI agents shop on their behalf. That only works if the agent answers to you and no one else," said Vendee Labs CEO Darryl Carlton. "We built the VendeeX Personal Shopping Agent to run on your own computer, under European privacy law."

The application is currently available for macOS in 19 languages, with Windows and Linux versions expected soon. VendeeX is free to use without an account or subscription. The company earns revenue through referral commissions and a share of payment processing fees that merchants already pay, not through advertising.
