Venture emulator enables Meta Quest exclusive titles to run on PC VR hardware
The newly released Venture emulator allows users to run Meta Quest-exclusive virtual reality games on standard PC VR headsets using a simplified installation process.
The Venture emulator has emerged as a software solution allowing PC-based VR hardware to run titles originally exclusive to the Meta Quest ecosystem. Unlike previous experimental projects that required manual compilation from source code, Venture provides a Windows executable file that streamlines the installation process for users.
Technically, the software utilizes Google’s ANGLE library to map OpenGL ES graphics calls to the PC's GPU, enabling compatibility with both 64-bit and legacy 32-bit ARM games. The emulator supports titles such as 'Asgard's Wrath 2', 'Assassin's Creed Nexus VR', and 'Batman: Arkham Shadow' through the OpenXR standard.
While the project facilitates broader hardware access, industry observers advise caution. Because the software requires users to log in with personal Meta accounts, there are potential security and compliance risks associated with its usage. At this stage, experts suggest that users should carefully evaluate these risks before integration.
