Vertiv and HARTING Unveil Data Center Rack Power Solution
Vertiv and HARTING have collaborated to introduce a new rack power solution for data centers, aiming to simplify and accelerate deployment. The solution was launched at the OCP Summit in San Jose, California.
Vertiv and HARTING have partnered to launch a new power distribution solution for data center racks, designed to streamline and expedite deployment processes. The Vertiv PDB solution, named SmartIT, was officially unveiled at the OCP Summit held in San Jose, California.
The core of this new system is the Above-Rack Vertiv Power Distribution Box (PDB) SmartIT. This unit receives high-power input from facility-side connections and efficiently distributes it to server shelves using HARTING's Han-Eco® connectors, compatible with Open Rack V3 (ORv3). This design eliminates the need for bulky sidecar power units and complex cable management, offering a simplified installation and conserving rack space.
On the facility side, the PDB features four 100-amp connections, providing a robust and scalable power infrastructure. Within the rack, HARTING's Han-Eco® connectors offer flexible, industry-standard options for routing power to the equipment.
Vertiv selected HARTING for its capability to provide compact, high-current connectors that outperform older solutions. The Han® 32B connector, used between the OCP Busway and the PDB, is significantly smaller than traditional alternatives and features a lever-latching mechanism for easier installation and servicing. This space efficiency allows for a denser configuration without compromising performance or compliance.
