Vietnam Waste Solutions Plans New Renewable Energy Facility

Vietnam Waste Solutions (VWS), the California-based operator of Ho Chi Minh City's largest engineered landfill, has announced plans for a significant expansion. The company intends to construct a 50- to 60-megawatt waste-to-energy (WTE) plant.
This new facility will also incorporate specialized recycling lines. The initiative is designed to contribute to Vietnam's national goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The project seeks to divert waste from landfills and generate energy.
VWS has been a key player in Ho Chi Minh City's waste management sector since 2007. The company currently manages approximately 6,000 tons of waste daily, a volume that has grown with the city's economic expansion. The planned WTE plant represents a new approach to waste treatment in the region.
The project aims to promote a circular economy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels for energy generation in Vietnam. VWS stated that the facility will utilize modern technology to minimize environmental impact.
