Vietnamese American Business Association Marks 15 Years of Uniting Entrepreneurs
The Vietnamese American Business Association (VABA) celebrates 15 years of operation. The organization connects entrepreneurs, investors, and businesses through networking, advocacy, and support.

The Vietnamese American Business Association (VABA) is marking 15 years since its founding, aiming to foster connections and collective strength among entrepreneurs. Established in 2011 by David Duong, the organization facilitates business development and collaboration for Vietnamese American entrepreneurs in the United States and internationally.
Duong's personal journey, from fleeing Vietnam as a refugee to building a recycling business in California and investing in Vietnam, shaped the association's purpose. VABA provides its members with support, advocacy, and networking opportunities designed to help them grow their businesses and amplify their collective voice.
Currently, VABA reports a network of over 2,200 professionals and 720 businesses, with connections spanning 12 U.S. states and eight countries. Its core values of support, advocacy, and networking are encapsulated in the motto "Speak with One Voice," reflecting a shared commitment to business success.
The foundation of VABA is rooted in the entrepreneurial experiences of its founder. David Duong's family arrived in the U.S. in 1979 and began collecting recyclable materials, leading to the establishment of California Waste Solutions. Duong also became an early investor in Vietnam's waste treatment sector, providing him with insights into fostering cross-border commercial ties.
VABA's activities center on three key pillars: providing support through advice and introductions, engaging in advocacy with decision-makers, and facilitating networking across industries and generations. The association aims to strengthen the position of Vietnamese American entrepreneurs and promote their success in the global economy.
