Vigor Develops Composite Bridge Plug for High Temperature, High Pressure Wells

Vigor Drilling Oil Tools and Equipment Co., Ltd. has introduced the Ultron™ Composite Bridge Plug, engineered for challenging high-temperature and high-pressure environments encountered in oil and gas well operations, specifically for staged fracturing of shale gas horizontal wells.

The plug's design utilizes advanced composite materials and innovative structures, resulting in a lightweight tool that resists extreme conditions and is easily drilled out after deployment. The company reports that the plug can withstand a pressure differential of 105 MPa and temperatures up to 120 degrees Celsius based on systematic testing and field applications.

Compared to traditional metal bridge plugs, the composite construction offers advantages in weight, easing installation in complex wellbores like horizontal or extended-reach wells. Its enhanced corrosion resistance against acidic formations also contributes to greater reliability and tool longevity.

Vigor highlights the plug's efficient drillability as a key benefit, potentially reducing well workover times and associated costs. Field applications have reportedly validated the plug's performance and efficiency in construction operations, improving overall cost-effectiveness.
