Viking Therapeutics Plans $400 Million Offering of Stock and Notes

(Nasdaq: VKTX) announced today its intention to conduct separate public offerings of common stock and convertible senior notes, aiming to raise a total of $400 million. The company plans to offer $200 million in common stock and $200 million in aggregate principal amount of convertible senior notes due 2032. These funds are earmarked for advancing the company's pipeline, particularly its VK2735 and VK3019 programs, which target the treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases.
Viking Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, focuses on developing novel therapies for metabolic and endocrine disorders. Company leadership has indicated the intention to utilize these proceeds to support continued clinical development and commercialization efforts. The company has also granted initial underwriters options to purchase additional stock and notes, up to $30 million each, to cover potential overallotments.
