A newly developed district named Paupys, situated next to Vilnius' Old Town in Lithuania, has seen the construction of an office and commercial building. The district, named after its riverside location, also includes residential properties.

The architectural design for this segment of the district, which encompasses office and commercial spaces, a market hall, and a cinema, was undertaken by Audrius Ambrasas Architects. The site previously housed a dilapidated Soviet-era industrial building that, due to significant soil and structural contamination, was demolished to allow for a fresh start in the construction process.

To imbue the primary building, housing offices and commercial venues, with a character that respects its surroundings, architects selected Ruukki's Cor-Ten steel sheets and tubes for its cladding. Concrete serves as the complementary facade material. The combination of Cor-Ten and concrete was chosen for their natural qualities and harmonious interaction, with the steel specifically intended to evoke the area's industrial heritage.

The Cor-Ten cladding serves not only an aesthetic purpose but also a functional one. It was utilized on sections housing air-conditioning units to facilitate air circulation. The material also appears on canopies, flashings for doors and windows, chimneys, and border structures for access routes, further integrating the historical industrial theme into the building's design.
