VINCI Energies establishes international Security Operations Center in Basel

VINCI Energies, the energy and ICT division of the VINCI Group, is establishing an international Security Operations Center (SOC) focused on ICT and OT security in Basel, Switzerland. Operating under its brands Axians (ICT) and Actemium (industrial technology), the company aims to specialize in security for Industry 4.0.

The new SOC will serve as a hub connecting more than 300 cybersecurity specialists from Switzerland, Germany, and other European countries. The facility will integrate expertise in both Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Operational Technology (OT) for industrial systems. It will also process insights from international research collaborations concerning critical infrastructure security.

The Basel SOC hub, set to open in the second half of 2021 at the uptownBasel competence center, will act as a central node linked to existing local SOC centers in Germany, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Portugal, and France. This setup will allow Axians and Actemium clients to manage cybersecurity for their digitally connected businesses and receive immediate information on cross-border digital threats.

The establishment addresses the growing threat landscape of cyberattacks, including data breaches, ransomware, and attacks on production facilities. VINCI Energies is strategically investing in this area to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by digitalization and Industry 4.0. The SOC will monitor connected devices and systems to analyze security patterns and initiate defensive measures.
