Visma Leverages AI Portfolio to Reshape Accounting
Software provider Visma is deploying its artificial intelligence portfolio to automate and streamline accounting processes, aiming to reduce manual bookkeeping tasks.

Visma, a global provider of business software, is implementing its artificial intelligence portfolio to transform accounting processes and move away from manual bookkeeping.
The company is significantly investing in AI-driven solutions designed to automate routine and time-consuming accounting tasks. These include data extraction from invoices, automatic transaction posting, and bank reconciliations. Visma's objective is to free up accounting professionals from tedious manual work, allowing them to focus on more intricate and advisory responsibilities.
T. Alexander Lystad, Chief Technology Officer at Visma, stated that the company manages over 600 AI initiatives across its portfolio. These initiatives are categorized into four main areas: automation that saves user time and effort; assurance, which detects anomalies in data like payroll; advisory, which surfaces patterns and insights from data; and agentic AI, which automates entire workflows.
Portfolio companies acquired by Visma, such as Chaintrust and Dinero, focus on solving specific customer problems within their local markets. Chaintrust automates the scanning, extraction, and posting of accounting entries from invoices and receipts. Dinero offers small businesses a virtual chief financial officer (CFO) service that handles routine bookkeeping and payments, while also providing business leaders with data insights and advice.
Visma's strategy combines global scale with local market expertise, enabling the development of tailored AI solutions that comply with regulations and conditions in different countries. The company actively seeks new businesses with proven customer value and high product engagement to scale their AI innovations across the group.
