Shenzhen VisTa Robotics Technology has closed an angel funding round, with investors including Huawei's investment arm, Hubble Investment, and others. The company stated the funding will be used for product research and development, commercialization, and expanding applications in areas like embodied intelligence, consumer electronics, and industry.
VisTa's technology is built upon flexible photonic crystal materials, focusing on tactile sensing and robotic manipulation. The core research team originates from the smart liquid crystal optics laboratory at Southern University of Science and Technology.
The company has developed products and technologies extending from its photonic crystal tactile technology, including tactile sensors, data acquisition systems, and tactile control models. VisTa has created a high-density tactile sensing solution with over 10,000 sensing points per square centimeter.
This "photonic crystal visuo-tactile" electronic skin is described as less than 1mm thin and flexible, enabling coverage for robots. Potential applications include industrial dexterity, household robotics, smart home devices, and acupuncture robots.
