Visual Studio Code 1.140 Released with AI Workflow Enhancements
Microsoft has released version 1.140 of Visual Studio Code, focusing on improvements to GitHub Copilot Agent workflows. The update introduces features like multi-folder sessions and remote task delegation.
Microsoft has launched version 1.140 of Visual Studio Code, bringing significant enhancements centered around GitHub Copilot Agent workflows.
The latest release introduces an experimental multi-folder session feature. This allows different chats within the same Agent session to be bound to separate code repositories or Git worktrees. This isolates terminals, tasks, code changes, pull requests, and merge statuses from each other, mitigating the risk of unintended modifications.
The update also enhances the Copilot harness, supported by the Copilot SDK. This unifies Agent behavior across VS Code, the Copilot application, and Copilot CLI, operating within a dedicated Agent Host process using the Agent Host Protocol (AHP).
In a research preview, HydraFusion model orchestration is introduced. This feature automatically selects models and workflows, enabling models to critique and revise results, aiming to balance speed, cost, and code quality.
Remote task delegation capabilities have also been expanded. New Agents can discover remote hosts, select them based on operating system, memory, CPU, and load, and then create remote sessions to execute tasks.
