Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets Recalls Mung Beans Over Glass Contamination
Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets has recalled Natural Grocers brand mung beans due to reports of glass fragments found in the packaging.

Colorado-based Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets is recalling its Natural Grocers brand organic mung beans after customers identified glass fragments in the product. The recall specifically impacts 2-pound bags labeled with UPC 000080112600 and five specific pack dates distributed across 21 states.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has highlighted the health risks associated with the contamination, noting that ingesting glass can lead to oral lacerations, throat injuries, and intestinal perforation. While there have been no confirmed reports of injury at this time, the wide distribution of the affected lots has necessitated a large-scale recall.
This incident adds to a broader pattern of food safety concerns within the retail sector this year, with major brands like Pillsbury and Trader Joe’s issuing similar recalls for potential glass debris. Consumers in possession of the recalled items are advised to discard them or return the product to any Natural Grocers location for a full refund.
