Technology firm vivo has announced changes to its attendance policy for its employees in China, confirmed by sources close to the company. The updated regulations, set to take effect on October 8, 2026, establish a standard eight-hour workday.
Under the new policy, employees are required to clock in between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM, with 9:00 AM being the absolute latest time to start the workday. Specific break periods, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM and from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM, will not count towards the required eight working hours.
The company has stated that in cases of unforeseen circumstances requiring a late arrival, employees must notify their direct supervisor in advance via the company's messaging platform. This policy applies to all current employees within vivo's China operations.
The move aims to standardize working hours and ensure a consistent eight-hour workday across the board for its China-based workforce.
