Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Honor collaborate on fair RAM mechanism for Android
Chinese smartphone manufacturers vivo, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Honor have announced a joint effort to create a "fair RAM mechanism" for Android devices.

Major Chinese smartphone vendors vivo, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Honor have announced a collaborative initiative to enhance the performance of Android devices. The companies are jointly developing a "fair RAM mechanism" aimed at optimizing memory allocation and reducing application slowdowns and reloading issues.
The new mechanism intends to address common Android system problems, including device sluggishness, overheating, and apps being closed in the background. The core components involve establishing unified standards for memory usage, implementing intelligent notifications for apps to release resources, and defining scenario-specific rules to minimize user disruption.
Industry observers suggest this collaboration could lower adaptation costs for app developers and foster a more sustainable terminal ecosystem. The objective is to create a positive cycle where improved performance translates to a better user experience.
Initial steps towards integrating this mechanism are already underway. For instance, QQ messaging app's internal test version (ver 9.3.25) has reportedly adopted the fair RAM mechanism, with its presence also noted in other applications like Douyin, WPS Office, and WeChat.
