VMware Addresses SMB Concerns Over Pricing and Product Availability

VMware is reportedly responding to concerns from small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) regarding the affordability and availability of its virtualization software after its acquisition by Broadcom.

SMBs have voiced significant price objections to VMware's new subscription-based licensing model, which replaced perpetual licenses post-Broadcom acquisition. Many find the flagship VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) bundle to be prohibitively expensive and laden with features they do not need.

Reports suggest that some VMware sales representatives have continued to push VCF onto SMB clients. Furthermore, customers have indicated that lower-cost options, such as vSphere Standard, may no longer be readily available, exacerbating cost concerns.

The company's efforts appear aimed at rebuilding trust with the SMB sector, which has been impacted by these changes. The focus is on addressing perceived deficits in product accessibility and pricing structures to retain this critical customer base.
