China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has disclosed details of the Zhong 09, the second electric vehicle resulting from the collaboration between Volkswagen and Chinese automaker Xpeng. The new model has completed its official filing and is scheduled for a market launch in the second half of this year.

The Zhong 09 will be available in two configurations: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. Both variants will utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, with battery cells supplied by CATL and battery pack assembly handled by Volkswagen Anhui.

Its exterior dimensions measure 5,081 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,509 mm in height, with a top speed of 200 km/h. The front motor has a peak power of 140 kW, while the rear motor delivers 230 kW.

Optional features for both models include different wheel rims, brake calipers, and an event data recorder (EDR). The single-motor version additionally offers an optional panoramic glass roof.
