The vehicle's exterior features a design with sharp lines, extending from the Volkswagen logo. It includes smart light strips, high-gloss black mirrors, semi-recessed door handles, and frameless doors. A wolf head emblem is placed below the high-mounted brake light. Customers can choose from four color options: Obsidian Black, Dawn White, Twilight Purple, and Clear Sea Blue. The car measures 5081mm in length, 1980mm in width, and 1509mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3030mm. It is equipped with 21-inch wheels and Brembo brake calipers, and its LED lighting system comprises 422 independently controllable units capable of displaying light signals and dynamic animations.

The car is set to feature an end-to-end intelligent driving assistance model, supporting highway and urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) functionality, along with an AI-powered valet parking system. It is powered by a Turing AI chip with a total computing power of 750 TOPS and utilizes multiple lidar sensors.
In terms of powertrain, the "ID. 09" will be available in two all-electric versions: a single-motor variant with a peak power of 230 kW, and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup featuring a 140 kW front motor and a 230 kW rear motor. All versions will be equipped with CATL's lithium iron phosphate battery packs.
