Volkswagen to Launch Second XPeng Joint Venture EV Later This Year
Volkswagen will introduce its second jointly developed electric vehicle with XPeng, codenamed "众 09", in the Chinese market during the latter half of this year. The vehicle is expected to feature advanced intelligent driving capabilities.

Wolfsburg/Peking – Volkswagen's passenger car brand in China will launch its second jointly developed electric vehicle with XPeng, codenamed "众 09", in the Chinese market during the latter half of this year, according to Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars China. The announcement was made on July 10th.
This new model is the second vehicle to emerge from the collaboration between Volkswagen and the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng, with development taking place over 24 months. The "众 09" measures over five meters in length with a wheelbase of 3030 mm, suggesting a spacious interior. The design features a sleek fastback silhouette and extended body proportions, incorporating unique wolf-head emblems into its styling.
Inside, the vehicle will feature Volkswagen's "Cloud Drive" and "Cloud Cockpit" technologies. These include a VLA large model-based intelligent assisted driving system and an AI intelligent assistant. Volkswagen states that the vehicle's level of intelligent features positions it in the top tier of the market.
According to filings with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the new model will be available in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. Both versions will use lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by CATL, with battery pack assembly handled by Volkswagen Anhui Component Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant has a curb weight of 2307 kg and measures 5081 mm in length, 1980 mm in width, and 1509 mm in height. Both configurations have a top speed of 200 km/h.
