Volvo Buses to Deliver South Africa's First Electric Low-Entry City Buses

Volvo Buses will supply 38 Volvo BZR Low Entry electric buses to the City of Cape Town, introducing South Africa's first locally bodied electric buses. The new fleet is set to operate within the city's developing electric passenger transport system.

This delivery supports Cape Town's broader transition toward zero-emission public mobility. The initiative is part of the city's ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance sustainable transportation options for its residents.

Leon Nelson, Director of Volvo Buses in South Africa, stated that the project is "a landmark project for both Cape Town and for us." He added that the company is "very proud to introduce electric buses to the city, and in doing so, prove that we acknowledge and support a sustainable future."
