VR Game "Evangelion: Δ Cross Reflections" to Launch Next Year
The VR game "EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS," based on the classic anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion," is set for release next year. Media previewed an early version of the game, showcasing its motion-controlled combat.
South Korean studio Pixelity will release "EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS" next year, a virtual reality game based on the iconic "Neon Genesis Evangelion" anime series. Media outlets have previewed an early version of the game, focusing on its story mode and combat.
The game adopts a linear narrative structure, similar to visual novel VR titles, and unfolds around the events of the original anime. Cinematic scenes are interspersed with interactive VR elements, allowing players to engage in combat scenarios such as defending against Angel attacks, akin to light gun shooter experiences.
Movement is controlled via hand gestures, with players pointing to navigate. Combat utilizes motion controls, featuring punching for melee attacks and specific hand gestures for ranged weapons. Defensive maneuvers include raising both hands to deploy a temporary shield against enemy projectiles.
An upgrade system provides random bonuses and special weapons, adding depth to the gameplay beyond basic actions. Pixelity is reportedly refining the gesture controls for improved responsiveness and natural feel. The game is currently being developed for Meta Quest 3, with further details on platforms and content still to be announced.
